Social Media Assistant & Content Editor (Podcast & Video)

Job Overview:

Are you a skilled editor who knows how to craft engaging short-form videos and manage vibrant online communities?

Our client, an innovative coaching business specializing in neuro-coaching for families and partners of autistic individuals, is looking for a Social Media Assistant & Content Editor. In this role, you will seamlessly bridge the gap between multimedia content creation and active social media management. We are seeking candidates proficient in video and audio editing software tailored for podcast production, audiograms, and short-form video formats like Reels, Shorts, and TikTok. A strong candidate will demonstrate proactive communication to ensure key deliverables are consistently met. Candidates must provide a portfolio showcasing past podcast/video editing work, short-form clips, and social media channels managed.

Schedule:

Part-time (20 work hours per week) flexible, deadline-driven (must attend a weekly check-in and periodic meetings during Mountain/Pacific US business hours)

Responsibilities:

  • Podcast & Video Editing: Edit one weekly long-form podcast episode (solo or with a guest; video when available, audio-only otherwise). Episodes are recorded by the coach in Alitu; the best way to hand off recordings will be determined together with the editor.
  • Content Repurposing: Identify and extract 3–5 high-quality short vertical clips from each long-form podcast episode for Reels, Shorts, and TikTok, with captions. Minimal editing/polishing may also be required for an additional 2–3 raw videos provided directly by the coach. Create approximately 2 audiograms per week from audio provided by the coach, using the coach's own library of videos and photos, with licensed music provided by the editor.
  • Podcast Publishing: Publish each finished long-form podcast episode to podcast platforms and to YouTube on the scheduled release day, including the episode title, description, show notes, and YouTube thumbnail. Save the episode transcript to Google Drive.
  • Social Media Posting & Scheduling: Plan, schedule, and post roughly 5–7 social media posts per week (clips, audiograms, and quote/photo posts) across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok, including captions and hashtags, using Google Drive and WhatsApp for coordination. Posts early in the week direct the audience to the episode; posts later in the week direct the audience to the coach's free audios.
  • Community Management: Reply to general and routine comments and direct messages. Messages that are emotional, financial, personal, or intended for the coach only are forwarded to the coach the same day, and any mention of safety or crisis is forwarded immediately. This role does not give advice or coaching.
  • Communication & Reporting: Confirm receipt of new files within 24 hours (weekdays), reply to the coach within 24 hours (weekdays), give at least 48 hours' notice if any deadline may slip, and stay one week ahead on all content. Send a Friday status update covering what went live, what is scheduled, and what is blocked. During the initial period, all content is submitted to the coach for approval before it goes live.
  • Future Growth (Administrative Tasks): As the business grows, this role has the potential to expand into general virtual assistant responsibilities, including guest booking, client outreach, and appointment scheduling.

Requirements:

  • Experience in podcast/video editing, short-form video creation, and social media management.
  • Proficient in video/audio editing software suitable for podcast production, short-form video creation (Reels/Shorts/TikTok), and audiograms.
  • Access to licensed, commercial-use music for all edited content.
  • Familiarity with publishing and optimizing content for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Comfortable using Google Drive and WhatsApp for communications and asset management.
  • Comfortable working through team-member access (YouTube Studio, Meta Business Suite); account passwords are not shared.
  • High Reliability: Exceptional consistency, adherence to strict project deadlines, and advance notice whenever a deadline is at risk.
  • Communication: Strong written English skills for community management, message replies, and team coordination, with a warm and respectful tone for a sensitive audience.
  • Discretion: Ability to keep personal stories and private messages confidential.
  • Adaptability: Eagerness to scale with a growing business and take on administrative tasks over time.

Qualifications:

  • Portfolio demonstrating past podcast/video editing work, short-form clips or audiograms created, and social media pages managed.

Independent Contractor Perks:

  • Permanent work from home
  • Immediate hiring
