Web Developer

Core technical skills

  • WordPress fundamentals: installing/configuring themes, working inside page builders (Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, or whichever your team uses), and basic Gutenberg block editing
  • HTML/CSS proficiency (enough to fix spacing, alignment, and responsive issues that page builders don't handle well)
  • Basic JavaScript/jQuery (for simple interactive elements, animations, or troubleshooting plugin conflicts)
  • Vector file handling: opening and editing files in Illustrator or Figma, exporting them correctly as SVG/PNG/WebP for web use, optimizing file size without losing quality
  • SEO intermediates (meta tags, alt text, site structure)

WordPress-specific know-how

  • Plugin management (installing, configuring, avoiding conflicts)
  • Basic understanding of child themes and custom CSS injection
  • Familiarity with common site speed/performance practices (image compression, caching plugins)
  • Comfort with staging environments and pushing changes live without breaking things

Analytics

  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics (setting up tracking, reading traffic/conversion reports, basic goal or event setup)
  • Comfortable pulling simple performance data for clients or internal review

Design-adjacent skills

  • Enough visual/design sense to adapt a template to fit brand guidelines (colors, fonts, spacing) since pre-made vectors often need tweaking to fit client branding
  • Basic responsive design judgment (knowing when something looks broken on mobile)

Language and communication

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, for client-facing communication and internal collaboration
  • Ability to follow a design brief or brand guide closely
  • Comfortable using project management tools (Monday.com is what we use)

Nice to have

  • Experience with other website builders (Squarespace, Wix, Webflow) in addition to WordPress
  • Experience in highly-regulated industries (I.e. healthcare, Fintech, medical device manufacturing)
