Video Colorist (DaVinci Resolve/Social Media)

Client Overview

Our client is a creative media agency managing video production for high-end hospitality, restaurant, hotel, and tourism board clients across Europe and internationally. They specialize in publishing mobile-optimized, short-form visual content that requires vibrant, consistent, and premium color grading across multi-camera shoots.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Video Colorist (DaVinci Resolve/Social Media) to execute color grading for short-form social media content across hospitality, travel, and lifestyle accounts. Working primarily in DaVinci Resolve Studio, you will transform raw log footage (Canon C-Log and Sony S-Log3) into cohesive, polished Rec.709/sRGB deliverables optimized for mobile screens. You will maintain camera matching, execute color-managed workflows, correct complex lighting scenarios, and deliver fast turnarounds on recurring clip batches.

Schedule

  • Flexible during client business hours, CET | 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Log Grading & Camera Matching: Grade Canon Log (C-Log2/C-Log3, Cinema Gamut) and Sony S-Log3 (S-Gamut3.Cine) footage within shared projects; match white balance, exposure, contrast, and saturation across mixed-camera shoots.
  • Color-Managed Workflows: Utilize DaVinci Resolve Studio (CST, DaVinci Wide Gamut, or ACES) for repeatable log-to-Rec.709 conversions rather than one-click LUTs; perform legal-range and gamut checks.
  • Hospitality & Lifestyle Aesthetics: Enhance food visuals, warm interior scenes, pool/ocean environments, and maintain true whites on linens and architecture while preserving natural skin tones.
  • Shot Correction & Finishing: Correct underexposed/overexposed clips, manage mixed lighting (tungsten, daylight, LED), resolve shadow noise/banding, and manage highlight roll-off.
  • Batch Efficiency & Delivery: Maintain node tree templates and PowerGrades for fast turnaround; deliver 9:16, 16:9, 1:1, and 4:5 exports in H.264/H.265 or ProRes 422 HQ; provide DaVinci Resolve project files/PowerGrades upon completion.
  • Client & Team Communication: Review briefs, deliver 1–2 sample clips for look approval within 1–2 days, incorporate review feedback via link, and provide clear written status updates.

Must-Have Requirements & Technical Specs

  • Software: Licensed DaVinci Resolve Studio (required for noise reduction and GPU acceleration).
  • Hardware & Monitor Setup: 10-bit calibrated monitor covering ~100% sRGB/Rec.709 (e.g., BenQ SW, Eizo, ASUS ProArt) in a glare-free, neutral-lit environment; regular calibration history.
  • System Performance: Workstation capable of smooth 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 H.265 playback (or proxy workflow capability) with high-speed internet for 50GB–500GB project transfers.
  • Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in color management (CST, ACES, DWG), log conversion, skin tone protection, and compression-resistant social media outputs.
  • Communication: Clear written English for Slack coordination, timestamped review notes, and status reporting.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Experience creating brand-specific color look books or 1-page visual style guides.
  • Portfolio work specifically featuring hotels, luxury resorts, restaurants, or tourism board content.
  • Basic finishing capabilities (video stabilization, minor cleanup, noise reduction, XML/EDL/AAF round-tripping with Premiere/Final Cut).
  • Working knowledge of HDR/Dolby Vision workflows and SDR down mapping.

Workflow & Turnaround Expectations

  1. Brief & Handover: Client supplies reference look, camera metadata, and XML/EDL edit or locked picture reference.
  2. Look Approval: Deliver 1–2 graded sample clips within 1–2 working days.
  3. Batch Execution: Standard 48-hour turnaround for up to 100 short clips once the look is approved (includes 1 round of feedback per batch).
  4. Final Export: Deliver final renders (Rec.709 Gamma 2.4 / sRGB) alongside exported DRP project files or PowerGrades.
