Licensed Attorney / Senior Paralegal (Clio, LexisNexis)

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Licensed Attorney to join their team as a Senior Paralegal supporting a U.S.-based law firm. This position is tailored specifically for qualified legal professionals who bring a sophisticated understanding of legal principles, advanced analytical reasoning, and high-level case processing capabilities.

In this role, you will leverage your formal legal education and analytical training to deliver high-impact paralegal support, comprehensive legal research, document drafting, and case management directly to U.S. attorneys and managing partners.

Schedule: Remote, Full Time | Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm EST, with 1 hour unpaid/paid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

Legal Research & Drafting

  • Conduct in-depth legal research on U.S. federal, state, and local statutes, case law, and administrative regulations using platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or Fastcase.
  • Draft complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests/responses, briefs, non-disclosure agreements, and contract clauses.
  • Prepare comprehensive legal memos, case summaries, deposition summaries, and trial exhibits.

Case Management & Workflow Optimization

  • Manage case files from intake through resolution using legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, Filevine, Smokeball).
  • Monitor case dockets, track court deadlines, and maintain firm-wide litigation calendars.
  • Organize, index, and review large volumes of discovery documents, medical records, or financial disclosures.

Client & Operational Support

  • Draft professional correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, court clerks, and expert witnesses.
  • Assist with client intake interviews, fact-gathering, and drafting preliminary case assessments.
  • Provide high-level administrative support, including legal billing entries, document formatting, and electronic filing (e-filing) across state and federal court portals.

Requirements:

  • Dedicated, quiet home office space conducive to handling confidential legal information.
  • High-speed, reliable internet connection with a backup connection plan.
  • Modern computer setup with dual-monitor capabilities (preferred).

Mandatory Education & Credentials

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), or equivalent legal degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active, valid Law License / Bar Admission in your home jurisdiction (Non-licensed paralegal applicants will not be considered for this specific role).

Professional Experience & Skills

  • Legal Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of active legal practice or senior-level paralegal/legal virtual assistant experience supporting U.S. law firms.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English language skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with U.S. Legal Tech (Clio, Filevine, MyCase, Smokeball, Westlaw, LexisNexis) and advanced proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Analytical Capability: Proven ability to analyze complex facts, synthesize legal arguments, and execute tasks independently with minimal supervision.

  • Litigation Support: Personal Injury, Commercial Litigation, Family Law, Employment Law.
  • Transactional & Corporate: Real Estate, Estate Planning, Corporate Formation & Compliance, Intellectual Property.
