CRO Manager (Shopify)

 CRO Manager

The role in one line
Owns conversion rate optimisation across the funnel (PDPs, checkout, landers, and email), running a disciplined, structured A/B testing roadmap. A pure CRO/experimentation role: doesn't set brand creative direction, doesn't write product copy, and doesn't own product publishing or product photo testing, that's the Product Manager's, this role coordinates with them so funnel-level and product-photo testing don't collide or duplicate.

Outcome — 6 months
Within 6 months, a live testing roadmap is running independently across the site, with a steady cadence of shipped tests and wins/learnings reported regularly, without a founder needing to step in.

What we want
• Real CRO experience — 2+ years running CRO and structured experimentation on a real DTC ecommerce brand, understands what actually moves conversion, not just "ran some A/B tests."
• Real, hands-on Shopify build experience — Can actually build in Shopify themselves, not just navigate the admin. Able to build a new page or section, independently to get a test live, plus whatever analytics/testing stack we run (GA4 and an A/B testing tool). This is real hands-on building experience, not theoretical, and not fully dependent on a developer for every test.
• Data-led but creatively sharp — Reads test results and data correctly, but also has a real eye for what looks and feels right on a premium product page, this isn't a purely analytical role.
• Relentless about shipping — Ships tests consistently and reports wins, losses, and next bets on a regular, predictable cadence.
• Builds and owns their own testing tracker — Sets up and maintains their own testing structure (we work in Notion) to log what's being tested, on which page, what the hypothesis and result were, and what's next, so the full roadmap and its history are always clear.

What we don't want (red flags)
• No real CRO background — CRO experience limited to running a handful of ad-hoc tests, or purely course/certificate-based knowledge with no real ownership of a testing roadmap.
• No real hands-on Shopify build experience — Comfortable browsing Shopify but can't actually build a page, section, or table themselves, and would need a developer for every test.
• Wants to set brand visual direction or product copy independently, rather than optimise within our brand guidelines.
• Inconsistent or undisciplined testing — Runs tests without a clear hypothesis or without reporting results back on a predictable cadence.
• No structure to their testing — Tests without any real log or structure, can't say what's already been tried, why, or what the result was.
