Client-Facing API Integration Engineer

Job Overview:

Are you a skilled mid-level engineer who excels at bridging the gap between external clients and complex platform architectures?

Our client is seeking a Client-Facing API Integration Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust integrations between our platform and third-party systems. In this highly collaborative role, you will leverage your solid full-stack development experience alongside deep expertise in REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and data mapping to deliver seamless technical solutions. Excellent and fluent English communication is essential, as you will directly consult with clients, translate integration goals, and independently troubleshoot external platform logic.

Schedule:

Full-time Monday - Friday, with 1 hour unpaid break and at least 5 hours overlap with US CST for meetings and collaboration (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of integrations, from design and development to deployment and ongoing optimization
  • Build and maintain scalable integrations with third-party platforms, APIs, and external services
  • Develop full-stack features using Node.js, React, and TypeScript, with a strong focus on backend architecture (approximately 70–80% backend/integration work and 20–30% frontend work)
  • Design, optimize, and maintain database schemas and queries using PostgreSQL
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver seamless, user-centric integration experiences
  • Diagnose and resolve complex integration issues, ensuring high reliability and uptime
  • Improve system performance, scalability, and observability across integration workflows
  • Establish best practices for integration architecture, error handling, and asynchronous processing
  • Manage multiple integration projects simultaneously, balancing speed with quality and long-term maintainability

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is a must (This is a client-facing role)
  • Solid full-stack experience, with the ability to contribute across backend and frontend when needed
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data models, databases, authentication concepts, and application architecture
  • Hands-on experience working with APIs, REST APIs, webhooks, API keys, OAuth, and third-party integrations
  • Practical experience consuming third-party APIs, performing data mapping/transformation, and debugging integrations
  • Proven ability to debug issues across multiple systems and services
  • Product-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering real user value, identifying edge cases, and working with ambiguous requirements
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, manage multiple workstreams, and make reasonable implementation decisions without needing step-by-step instructions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
  • Effective use of AI tools: ability to understand, validate, debug, and modify AI-generated code effectively

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and React is useful (deep expertise in any individual technology is not required)
  • Experience integrating with CRM platforms or enterprise SaaS tools is a plus
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and async workflows
  • Experience in high-growth or fast-paced startup environments
  • Exposure to observability tools, monitoring systems, and reliability best practices

Independent Contractor Perks:

  • Permanent work from home
  • Immediate hiring
  • Health Insurance Coverage for eligible locations
