Overview
Our client is looking for a Senior U.S. Tax Accountant to join their team. This role puts your U.S. tax expertise to work in a dynamic, client-focused environment supporting a thriving accounting firm based in the Pacific Northwest. You will focus on federal tax preparation, financial statement reconciliation, payroll, and state tax compliance for local small businesses. It is an ideal opportunity for an experienced professional skilled in preparing Forms 1120S, 1065, 1040, Form 3115, and managing ADP Payroll to make a direct impact.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Pacific Time) (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal tax returns, including: 1120S (S Corporation), 1065 (Partnership), and 1040 with Schedule C and Schedule D.
  • Handle recapture depreciation and prepare Form 3115 (Tax Return Adjustment).
  • Balance and reconcile Balance Sheets and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Perform bookkeeping and manage accounts payable/receivable functions.
  • File WA State DOR retail sales tax reports accurately and on time.
  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accruals, general ledger entries, and journal entries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
  • Oversee payroll processes with ADP Payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interact directly with clients and colleagues to discuss financial matters, answer inquiries, and provide professional support.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, assisting with training and development as needed.

Requirements

  • Prepare and file federal tax returns, including: 1120S (S Corporation), 1065 (Partnership), and 1040 with Schedule C and Schedule D.
  • Handle recapture depreciation and prepare Form 3115 (Tax Return Adjustment).
  • Proven ability to balance and reconcile complex financial statements.
  • Experience with WA State DOR retail sales tax filing.
  • Proficiency in ADP Payroll and familiarity with other accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • 4+ years of professional accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years of solid expertise in U.S. tax preparation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
