Web Administrator/Website Implementation

Job Overview:

Are you a meticulous WordPress expert who excels at turning detailed site strategy into flawless digital execution?

Our client is seeking a self-motivated Web Operations Administrator to take full ownership of hands-on client website implementations, updates, and maintenance. In this role, you will work independently to translate Notion briefs into precise, accurate site updates. Success requires leveraging Gutenberg and native WordPress functionality to execute approved copywriting and design directions without hitch. Ultimately, the ideal candidate brings proven experience in website administration and implementation, paired with a relentless drive to get site changes right the first time. 

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM AWST (UTC+8), with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

Website Implementation:

  • Build and update pages in WordPress using templates and layouts provided by the development team.
  • Implement approved website designs accurately using native WordPress functionality and Gutenberg.
  • Populate websites with copy, images, videos, documents, and other media.
  • Optimise images for website performance and maintain sensible file naming conventions.
  • Update website content, layouts, sections, and page elements as instructed.
  • Maintain consistency across website pages and existing site structures.
  • Work carefully within live client websites and avoid making changes outside the scope of the assigned task.

SEO & Technical Website Updates:

  • Configure basic SEO fields, including page titles, meta descriptions, and heading structures.
  • Maintain consistent SEO implementation across websites.
  • Implement 301 redirects when required.
  • Identify and resolve broken links, particularly during website updates and migrations.
  • Place tracking codes and schema snippets according to provided instructions.
  • Assist with basic technical SEO and website optimisation tasks.
  • Apply basic HTML and CSS knowledge when small website adjustments are required.

Shopify & Squarespace:

  • Maintain and update client websites across Shopify and Squarespace where required.
  • Manage Shopify products, collections, metafields, pages, theme settings, and notification/email templates.
  • Make content, page, section, layout, and SEO updates within Squarespace.
  • Ensure updates are implemented accurately and consistently across each platform.

Website Access & Administration:

  • Manage users and access permissions across client websites.
  • Maintain accurate records of user access and permissions.
  • Add, update, or remove users according to established procedures.
  • Follow appropriate security and access-management practices.

Task & Ticket Management:

  • Manage assigned tasks through Notion.
  • Review written tickets and accurately interpret the requested changes.
  • Prioritise and work through assigned tasks independently.
  • Keep ticket statuses current and provide clear progress updates.
  • Document completed work using concise and factual notes.
  • Raise specific questions when information is genuinely missing or clarification is required.
  • Move on to other available tasks while waiting for clarification where appropriate.

Quality Control:

  • Review all website changes before closing a ticket.
  • Check completed work on both desktop and mobile.
  • Confirm that changes match the requested requirements.
  • Check that the update has not affected other website functionality or content.
  • Correct issues identified during the quality-check process.
  • Use staging environments or backups where available and appropriate.

Requirements:

Platforms & Tools:

  • WordPress – Primary platform, including Gutenberg, content/media management, Yoast SEO, redirects, users, and website administration.
  • Shopify – Products, collections, metafields, pages, theme settings, and notification/email templates.
  • Squarespace – Page, content, section, layout, and SEO updates.
  • Notion – Ticket management, task tracking, status updates, and work documentation.
  • Slack – Day-to-day communication and team collaboration.
  • Google Meet – Used when face-to-face meetings or discussions are required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in website administration, website implementation, or a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with WordPress.
  • Experience working with Gutenberg and native WordPress functionality.
  • Experience managing website content, media, pages, and layouts.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of basic on-page SEO, including titles, meta descriptions, headings, and redirects.
  • Experience identifying and resolving broken links.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-control skills.
  • Ability to accurately follow written instructions and approved designs.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organisational and task-management skills.
  • Comfortable working with ticket-based workflows.
  • Reliable internet connection and suitable work-from-home setup.
  • Ability to maintain consistent availability during Perth/AWST business hours.

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Shopify and/or Squarespace.
  • Experience with Yoast SEO.
  • Experience with website migrations.
  • Familiarity with Google Search Console.
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager.
  • Experience with Google Merchant Centre.
  • Experience with Mailchimp or other email marketing platforms.
  • Basic graphic editing using Canva or Figma.
  • Familiarity with schema implementation and tracking snippets.
  • Basic understanding of DNS and domain management.

  • Learns new platforms and systems quickly.
  • Understands that accuracy and quality are more important than simply working quickly.
