Healthcare Receptionist

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare / Medical Receptionist to support the front-office operations of a growing healthcare practice.

The ideal candidate must have prior healthcare or medical reception experience, with dental practice experience strongly preferred. This role requires someone who is comfortable handling patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, managing billing-related tasks, and communicating professionally by phone and email.

The successful candidate will support multiple practice locations and must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning and navigating different practice-management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients via phone, email, and other communication channels
  • Handle inbound and outbound patient calls professionally and efficiently
  • Schedule, reschedule, confirm, and follow up on patient appointments
  • Manage appointment requests and help minimize cancellations and no-shows
  • Perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification
  • Assist with billing, claims, and insurance-related administrative tasks
  • Follow up on outstanding patient inquiries, appointment requests, and administrative matters
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Coordinate information across multiple practice locations
  • Navigate practice-management and scheduling systems accurately
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth front-office operations
  • Escalate patient or billing issues when appropriate

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of healthcare or medical receptionist experience — Required
  • Dental practice experience strongly preferred
  • Experience handling patient calls and appointment scheduling
  • Hands-on experience with insurance verification and eligibility checks
  • Familiarity with medical or dental billing and claims processes
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Professional and empathetic telephone manner
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and practice locations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • College-level education preferred, particularly in healthcare, medical administration, or a related field

The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare professional with strong front-office and patient-service skills, rather than a general administrative candidate.

Healthcare/medical experience is a must, while candidates with dental practice experience will be prioritized. The successful candidate should be able to step into the role with a solid understanding of patient communication, scheduling, insurance verification, and day-to-day healthcare administration.
