About the Role

As the Accounting Manager, you will serve as the financial leader overseeing our day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring rigorous accuracy, quality control, and compliance across our financial records. In this hands-on leadership role, you will guide, mentor, and manage a team of accounting staff while taking direct ownership of complex financial analysis, custom Excel modeling, and executive reporting. Success in this position requires a strong technical background in accounting theory, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: Full-time 8:00 AM-5:00 PM MDT (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and streamline daily accounting department workflows, setting operational priorities and managing team deadlines.
• Direct, train, and mentor accounting staff, performing rigorous quality control reviews on outputs, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Apply technical accounting principles to ensure proper accounting treatment, data accuracy, and compliance across all financial books and records.
• Build and maintain custom Excel-based financial reports, complex data models, and ad hoc analyses to support strategic business decisions.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, producing accurate, timely financial statement packages for leadership.
• Perform detailed variance analysis and financial performance reviews, translating raw figures into actionable management insights.
• Establish, refine, and enforce internal accounting controls, policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Coordinate external audit, tax preparation, and compliance requests with accounting partners and advisors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing an accounting team or department as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant ready for the next step.
• Deep knowledge of technical accounting theory, GAAP/financial reporting standards, and general ledger operations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with financial modeling, pivot tables, nested formulas, and data visualization.
• Demonstrated track record of mentoring, training, and elevating the quality of work produced by junior accounting team members.
• Outstanding problem-solving skills with high attention to analytical detail.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to summarize financial analysis clearly for executive stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain absolute integrity in financial reporting.

Nice to Have

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional accounting credential.
• Prior accounting experience within private equity, real estate, investment management, or financial services environments.
• Hands-on experience implementing or managing modern cloud accounting systems and financial management tools.
