 Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist (Urgent Care Office)

This role is critical to ensuring accurate reimbursement, patient satisfaction, and compliance for the client. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can manage the full revenue cycle, reduce denials, and maintain clear communication with patients and insurers.

Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 1-hour unpaid break daily, 35 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Post insurance payments and reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) accurately.
  • Review patient accounts, verify balances, and ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
  • Contact patients regarding unpaid balances, explain billing details, and arrange payment plans when necessary.
  • Submit clean claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers; monitor claim status and follow up on denials.
  • Investigate and appeal denied claims with clear documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations while safeguarding patient financial information.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate coding and charge entry.
  • Generate patient statements and invoices, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Track accounts receivable aging and escalate unresolved balances.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in medical billing, preferably in urgent care or specialty practice.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with medical billing software, EHR systems, and clearinghouse portals.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient interaction and insurer correspondence.
  • Detail Orientation: Ability to identify discrepancies in claims, payments, and balances with precision.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare billing regulations.

Preferences

  • Prior experience in dermatology or aesthetic surgery billing.
  • Strong negotiation skills for handling patient collections and insurance appeals.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
