ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Software Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain robust web applications using React on the front end and .NET technologies with Entity Framework and Microsoft SQL Server on the back end. Working closely with the wider development team, you will build scalable software solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and leverage AI-powered engineering tools to accelerate development while maintaining exceptional standards of quality, security, and performance.

schedule:  Monday - Friday overlap with at least half of the UK's working hours, anywhere from 8AM - 5/6PM UK Time.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using JavaScript and React.
• Build, enhance, and optimise back-end services using .NET, Entity Framework, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Develop clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Utilise AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and feature delivery.
• Create effective prompts and AI workflows that improve development efficiency and solve technical challenges.
• Critically review, validate, and refine AI-generated code to ensure accuracy, maintainability, security, and performance.
• Troubleshoot software defects and implement reliable, long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
• Continuously improve development standards, automation, and engineering processes.
• Stay informed of emerging AI technologies and share best practices that improve team productivity.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• A minimum of 3 years' professional software development experience.
• Strong commercial experience developing applications using JavaScript and React.
• Experience building back-end solutions using C#, .NET, Entity Framework, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, SQL querying, optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Demonstrated professional experience using AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar as an integral part of the software development lifecycle.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate feature development, debugging, testing, refactoring, documentation, and problem-solving while maintaining high standards of code quality, security, and performance.
• Strong engineering judgement with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code, identify inaccuracies or edge cases, and refine outputs using effective prompt engineering and sound technical expertise.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with .NET Core and modern back-end architectures.
• Familiarity with modern front-end build tools and package management.
• Experience automating development workflows using AI or custom scripting.
• Previous experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployment environments.
