Job Overview
Our client is looking for someone with solid technical foundations, strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and the curiosity to keep learning. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting projects from tender through to completion by preparing estimates, coordinating procurement, managing project documentation, and providing remote support to project managers and site teams. While your primary focus will be estimating and project coordination, you will also have opportunities to contribute to process improvements, system optimisation, and workflow automation as the business continues to grow. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and taking ownership of their work in a collaborative, remote environment.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sydney Time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)
Responsibilities:
Electrical Estimating
- Review electrical, mechanical and construction documentation.
- Prepare accurate commercial electrical estimates and material take-offs.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks and pricing assumptions.
- Assist with tender submissions and pricing documentation.
- Maintain estimating records and cost information.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
- Request and compare supplier quotations.
- Prepare purchase orders.
- Monitor procurement schedules and long-lead items.
- Coordinate with suppliers to meet project timelines.
- Support project cost tracking and budget control.
Project Coordination
- Assist Project Managers with project administration and documentation.
- Maintain RFIs, variations, procurement and drawing registers.
- Coordinate information between consultants, suppliers, builders and site teams.
- Prepare meeting notes and follow up outstanding actions.
- Support commissioning, handover documentation and project close-out.
Project Systems
- Use project management software to maintain project records, track procurement and project costs, manage documentation, and support estimating workflows. (Experience with Simpro is highly regarded but not essential. Applicants with experience using comparable estimating or project management platforms are encouraged to apply).
Technical Review
- Review drawings, specifications and supplier submissions to identify missing information, coordination issues, scope inconsistencies, and potential construction risks.
- Escalate technical matters requiring engineering review when appropriate.
Continuous Improvement
- Help improve project delivery by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, improving estimating and procurement processes, supporting the adoption of digital tools and automation, and sharing ideas that improve efficiency and reduce administrative effort. (Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or Power Automate is advantageous but not essential).
