Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solar & Electrical Estimator (Simpro & Xero)  to prepare accurate quotations and project cost estimates for residential and commercial solar and electrical projects. Working closely with the operations and project teams, you will support project delivery through estimating, supplier coordination, project administration, and financial tracking.

The ideal candidate has experience in the Australian solar or electrical industry, strong estimating skills, and hands-on experience with Simpro, Xero, and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM AEST (Flexible within client business hours) | 20 hours per week (4 hours per day)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quotations for residential and commercial solar and electrical projects.
• Review project plans and customer requirements to determine project scope.
• Estimate labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and pricing for solar systems, batteries, EV chargers, switchboards, lighting, and electrical installations.
• Source supplier pricing, maintain pricing databases, and ensure estimates are completed accurately and on time.
• Create and manage jobs in Simpro, maintain project documentation, and support procurement, purchase orders, and supplier coordination.
• Assist with project costing, job profitability, invoice processing, and financial administration using Xero.
• Develop and maintain estimating spreadsheets and reports in Microsoft Excel, analyse project costs and pricing, and maintain accurate project data.
• Support continuous improvement by enhancing estimating templates, workflows, and documentation.

Must-Have Requirements

• 2–3+ years of estimating experience in the solar, electrical, or construction industry.
• Experience preparing quotations for residential and/or commercial solar or electrical projects.
• Hands-on experience with Simpro and Xero.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, IF formulas, and reporting).
• Strong understanding of electrical materials, labour costing, and project estimating principles.
• Excellent numerical accuracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting Australian electrical contractors or solar installers.
• Knowledge of Australian electrical standards and solar industry terminology.
• Experience with OpenSolar, SolarEdge Designer, or similar solar design software.
• Familiarity with batteries, EV chargers, energy storage systems, commercial electrical projects, procurement, supplier management, and project scheduling.
