Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations and basic tax preparation for our growing client base. You will play a vital role in finalizing accounts in Xero and preparing basic tax returns, allowing our principal to focus on high-level advisory and strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Perform bank and account reconciliations across multiple client portfolios to ensure total accuracy
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including data entry, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Prepare and compile financial statements for individuals, companies, trusts, and superannuation funds
- Export finalized accounts from Xero into the firm's tax preparation software
- Compile basic tax returns for review by the principal CPA
- Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with all relevant requirements
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records across all client accounts
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a bookkeeping or junior accountant role within an accounting practice
- Advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and MYOB
- Familiarity with basic Australian tax return preparation and financial statement compilation
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy when handling complex financial data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with the Sydney team
- Bonus if you have experience with SMSF (Self-Managed Super Fund) compliance
- It helps if you are comfortable working within cloud-based practice management systems
