Website Developer & Designer
Overview
We are looking for a versatile mid-level Website Developer & Designer who thrives wearing multiple
hats. This is not a siloed role — you will design, build, support, and maintain client websites from start
to finish. You will work directly in WordPress using the Avada theme, write clean PHP, HTML, CSS, and
JavaScript, and serve as a responsive point of contact for client questions and requests.
The ideal candidate is someone who is equally comfortable tweaking a Fusion Builder layout, writing a
custom WordPress plugin, creating a polished mockup in Figma, and patiently walking a client through
a content update request.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
WordPress Development & Avada Theme Work
• Build and customize client websites using the Avada theme and Fusion Builder page builder
• Configure and maintain Avada Global Options, Fusion Theme Options, and per-page overrides
• Develop custom Avada layouts, templates, and reusable Fusion Elements
• Manage WordPress installations, plugins, themes, and updates in a Kinsta-hosted environment
• Perform site migrations, staging deployments, and production pushes
• Troubleshoot conflicts between themes, plugins, and custom code
Custom Development
•Write custom PHP for WordPress child themes, functions.php enhancements, and custom
plugins
•Build and maintain custom WordPress REST API endpoints
• Develop JavaScript/jQuery interactions, dynamic form behaviors, and front-end enhancements
• Work with Gravity Forms — including JSON imports/exports, conditional logic, and third-party
webhook integrations
• Integrate third-party APIs and webhooks relevant to the insurance agency ecosystem
• Follow clean, documented, version-controlled coding practices (Git)
UI/UX Design
• Design website mockups, section layouts, and component concepts in Figma
• Translate approved designs into pixel-accurate Avada/WordPress builds
• Maintain visual consistency across typography, spacing, color, and brand systems
• Create graphics, web assets, and imagery as needed using Figma or Adobe tools
• Provide design input on new GravityCerts platform features and client deliverables
Client Support & Communication
• Serve as a primary point of contact for client support requests via email and project
management tools
• Handle content updates, layout adjustments, plugin questions, and general website
maintenance requests
• Communicate technical issues clearly and professionally to non-technical agency owner clients
• Document work completed, updates made, and known issues for each client account
• Participate in onboarding calls and periodic client check-ins as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Must-Have Technical Skills
• 2+ years of professional WordPress development experience
• Hands-on proficiency with the Avada theme and Fusion Builder (not just familiarity)
• Solid PHP skills, including WordPress hooks, filters, custom post types, and plugin development
• Strong HTML5 and CSS3 — clean, semantic markup and responsive design
• Comfortable with JavaScript and jQuery for DOM manipulation and front-end interactivity
• Experience with Gravity Forms, including complex form structures, notifications, and integrations
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and webhook-based integrations
• Working knowledge of Git for version control
• Experience with WordPress hosting environments — Kinsta or similar managed WordPress
hosts preferred
Design Skills
• Proficient in Figma for wireframing, mockups, and design handoff
• Strong eye for typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy
• Experience translating design files into production-ready WordPress builds
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) is a plus
Soft Skills & Work Habits
• Strong written communication — clear, professional, and client-friendly
• Self-directed and reliable — you manage your own time and don't need to be micromanaged
• Detail-oriented — you notice the pixel that is off and the sentence that does not read right
• Comfortable context-switching between development tasks, design work, and client support in
the same day
• Proactive — you flag problems before they become emergencies and suggest improvements
BONUS SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE)
•Experience in or knowledge of the insurance industry or insurtech ecosystem
• Familiarity with agency management integrations such as AgencyZoom, Momentum AMP,
Canopy Connect, or TurboRater
• Experience with SEO best practices and tools such as AIOSEO or Yoast
• Basic knowledge of DNS management, SSL, and domain configuration
• Experience building or maintaining a SaaS or white-label product platform
• Copywriting or content writing ability — being able to write decent web copy is a genuine
differentiator here
