Job Overview
We're seeking for a Mechanical Project Engineer with strong engineering calculations and documentation experience to support Australian mining and mineral processing projects. You will work under the Engineering Lead and collaborate with experienced engineers to undertake calculations, equipment selection, project documentation, and coordinate design with Designers. This role involves materials handling and mineral processing plant design with a practical mix of mechanical and piping design.
Schedule: Flexible within client's business hours | Australian Western Time
Responsibilities
- Work under the Engineering Lead and alongside an experienced engineering and design team
- Undertake design calculations using spreadsheets and software:
- Hydraulic (pumps and piping)
- Materials handling (conveyors, screens, crushers etc)
- Undertake equipment selection:
- Identify equipment duty
- Identify appropriate equipment suppliers/vendors
- Coordinate with supplier for selection of equipment and provision of vendor data
- Develop technical documentation:
- Calculation reports
- Equipment data sheets
- Equipment Lists
- Piping Line Lists
- Valve Lists
- Installation Scope of Works
- Manage the delivery of your deliverables
- Coordinate development of layout design solution by Designers:
- Brief designer on requirements
- Review 3D models
- Review 2D drawings
- Manage the drafting deliverables list
- Apply Client and Australian Standards to all design work
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
- Experience applying Australian Standards
- Prefer 2+ years of Australian mining, materials handling or mineral processing project experience, particularly in gold, lithium, or iron ore
- Positive attitude
- Strong team player
- Eager to learn and grow technical design skills and experience
