Inventory Controller
Company Overview:
Our client's company operates a legal, licensed cannabis cultivation and distribution business in New York. They are committed to maintaining meticulous records and precise inventory control throughout the entire seed-to-sale process, adhering strictly to state regulations. They utilize specialized software to manage our operations and are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team.
Position Summary:
They are seeking a highly organized and tech-savvy Inventory Controller to take ownership of their seed-to-sale tracking software systems. This role will initially be part-time with the potential to grow into a full-time position, expanding into sales and accounts receivable responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies and a keen eye for detail in inventory management.
Schedule: 9am-5pm EST - Flexible (Part time, 20 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Ownership & Management:
- Serve as the primary owner and expert for our seed-to-sale tracking software, including Metric (state-mandated) and Canix (user-friendly overlay).
- Master the functionality of both software platforms through provided onboarding resources and continuous learning.
- Communicate effectively with the on-site team to ensure physical inventory counts accurately match digital records.
- Conduct regular baseline reconciliations between Metric and Canix, investigating and resolving discrepancies with customer support when necessary.
- Resolve issues by engaging with customer support for Metric and Canix, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Inventory Control & Tracking:
- Maintain complete and accurate control over all inventory, tracking the full life cycle of plants from seed to harvest and beyond.
- Manage packages within the software, including splitting, consolidating, and reassigning inventory as needed for orders and cancellations.
- Ensure accurate inventory records for active products and trace the origin of packages when required.
- Eventually, manage and prepare planting reports within the system.
- Order Processing & Manifesting:
- Assign products to specific customer orders and generate manifests for shipments.
- Program packages with correct pricing and quantities for sales orders.
- Generate and manage sales order reports.
- Future Responsibilities (as the role evolves):
- Conduct sales calls and draft sales emails.
- Manage accounts receivable, including chasing payments for orders aged over 30 days.
Qualifications:
- Technical Proficiency:
- Well-versed in software and technology, with a strong capability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
- General familiarity with technology and a willingness to leverage tools like AI software for problem-solving.
- Experience with inventory management control is preferred.
- Communication & Problem-Solving:
- Fluent and highly legible English speaking ability is essential for effective communication with customer support and team members.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently attempt solutions before escalating issues.
- Work Ethic:
- Takes ownership of tasks and processes.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous, especially concerning inventory accuracy.
- Proactive and eager to learn and grow within the role.
Work Environment & Training:
- This role will start as part-time and is expected to evolve into a full-time position.
- Extensive onboarding resources will be provided, including a dedicated YouTube channel for Canix, Metric tutorials, classes, seminars, and a sandbox environment for practice.
- The company is comfortable working with a cannabis operation.
- Work hours are ideally flexible within 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Initial compensation will be competitive, with opportunities for increased pay based on performance and growth within the role after 3-4 months.
