MYOB Bookkeeper

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized MYOB Bookkeeper to manage the core accounting and sales administration workflows for an expanding Australian business. This role is a hybrid of general ledger maintenance, regulatory compliance, and light administrative support.

Working directly with the business owner and an external chartered accountant, you will take complete ownership of daily reconciliations and tax reporting obligations. This position offers a distinct long-term career path, with the expectation to transition into a full-time operational role as the business scales.

Schedule

  • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) (20 hours per week)

Core Ledger Bookkeeping & Bank Reconciliations

  • Transaction Matching: Execute high-accuracy daily bank reconciliations, ensuring all operational incoming and outgoing transactions are matched correctly in MYOB.
  • Receipt Management: Process, verify, and match corporate receipts and supplier invoices to corresponding transactions to maintain clean, audit-ready financial records.
  • Accountant Liaison: Coordinate directly with the firm's external accountant to ensure all ledgers are structurally aligned and month-end/year-end closeouts run smoothly.

Australian Tax Compliance & Debt Tracking

  • BAS Preparation: Prepare, audit, and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) in strict compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) deadlines to eliminate risk of late fees.
  • Accounts Receivable Optimization: Proactively monitor aging accounts receivable dashboards, chasing overdue client invoices and outstanding payments to preserve healthy company cash flow.

Sales & Operational Administration

  • Pipeline Support: Assist with sales administration tasks, including following up on pending client proposals and proactively re-engaging past customer inquiries.
  • Future Scaling: Prepare to absorb payroll processing functions and broader operational compliance tasks as the position scales into a full-time role.

Requirements

  • Platform Specialization: Demonstrated hands-on professional experience navigating and utilizing MYOB for reconciliations, invoice entries, and record-keeping.
  • ATO Compliance Literacy: Solid fundamental understanding of the Australian tax system, including GST tracking, payroll components, and electronic BAS lodgement requirements.
  • Meticulous Precision: High attention to detail with a proven track record of identifying, isolating, and resolving ledger discrepancies independently.
  • Communication & Discretion: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for professional client-facing collections and stakeholder updates. High integrity when managing confidential cash flows.
  • Self-Managed Mindset: A truly autonomous remote worker who thrives under minimal supervision and keeps workflows moving without needing constant direct direction.
