Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support ongoing financial management and cleanup for a real estate investment portfolio. The primary focus of this role will be reconciling and organizing one to two years of backlogged financial records across multiple properties while maintaining accurate day-to-day bookkeeping operations moving forward.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in U.S. bookkeeping practices, property-based accounting, and financial reporting, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple property records accurately.
Work Schedule: 40 hours a week, 9AM-6PM with 1 hour unpaid break | Pacific Time
Key Responsibilities
- Clean up and reconcile backlogged financial records spanning one to two years across multiple properties
- Record, categorize, and reconcile financial transactions accurately
- Allocate expenses and income to the correct property entities
- Prepare detailed profit and loss (P&L) statements for each property
- Break down and input buying and closing statements into financial reports
- Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), invoicing, and follow-up statements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records across all properties
- Generate financial reports from property acquisition through sale
- Assist with ongoing bookkeeping maintenance and month-end reconciliations
- Communicate with the client to clarify transaction details and property-specific expenses
Scope of Work
- Initial focus on cleaning up and backfilling one to two years of historical financial data
- Ongoing bookkeeping maintenance and financial reporting
- Managing transaction tracking across multiple properties operating under a single LLC structure
- Ensuring all books remain balanced, organized, and audit-ready
- Supporting property-level reporting and financial visibility for the client
Requirements & Qualifications
- Mid-level to strong experience in bookkeeping and U.S. accounting standards
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and/or Xero
- Previous experience supporting real estate investors, property management, or real estate accounting
- Strong understanding of P&L reporting and financial reconciliations
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
- Experience handling multiple entities or property-based accounting structures is highly preferred
