We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of daily bookkeeping operations, financial record maintenance, account reconciliation, and reporting activities. This role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented accounting professional with at least five years of bookkeeping experience and strong QuickBooks expertise. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring the organization's financial records remain audit-ready.
Schedule:
- Full Time - 40h per week - based on Pacific Time Zone business hours
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Record Management
- Accurately record daily financial transactions and maintain complete financial records
- Review, classify, and post accounting entries within QuickBooks
- Ensure all financial records remain accurate, organized, and up to date
- Maintain supporting documentation and audit trails for all transactions
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Generate and distribute invoices accurately and on schedule
- Monitor outstanding receivables and conduct payment follow-ups
- Process vendor invoices and manage accounts payable workflows
- Reconcile customer and vendor account balances
Bank Reconciliations & Account Management
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Monitor cash flow and identify unusual account activity
- Maintain accurate general ledger balances
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Assist accounting leadership with audits and financial reviews
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Stay current on accounting regulations and best practices
Payroll & Administrative Accounting Support
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related reconciliations
- Maintain employee-related financial records when required
- Support special accounting projects and financial analysis initiatives
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping best practices
- Experience performing bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Excellent Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis, and reporting
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Highly Regarded Skills & Experience
- Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related field
- Experience supporting U.S.-based organizations
- Experience with educational institutions, training organizations, or multi-location businesses
- Familiarity with additional accounting platforms such as Xero, NetSuite, or Sage
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance reviews
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience managing high transaction volumes and complex reconciliations
