Are you a Xero expert who loves transforming financial chaos into perfectly streamlined books?
We're seeking a skilled, independent Senior Xero Bookkeeper to restructure and clean up our existing system, setting it up as a well-organized financial foundation. In this role, you will work directly with the business owner to tackle an initial forensic cleanup, manage inventory, and handle ongoing monthly maintenance with minimal oversight. If you have 3–5 years of hands-on Xero experience and a knack for spotting historical errors, we invite you to bring your expertise and help shape our long-term financial workflows!
Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM Fiji Time (FJT) [with 1 hour unpaid break]
Responsibilities:
Initial Project Phase: Restructuring and Cleanup
- Restructure and clean up the existing Xero accounting system
- Perform forensic analysis of current bookkeeping records to identify and correct errors
- Bring all financial records up to date for the current year
- Set up a proper chart of accounts and organizational structures within Xero
- Manage transition from chaotic system to streamlined, properly organized books
- Provide expertise and recommendations for best practices in Xero setup and maintenance
Ongoing Maintenance Phase: Routine Bookkeeping
- Process approximately 10 invoices per month for ongoing maintenance and maintain system integrity
- Handle accounts payable processing and management
- Perform account reconciliations (AP, AR, bank reconciliations)
- Manage inventory tracking and reporting within Xero
- Prepare data and supporting documentation for business activity statements and quarterly/annual reporting
- Establish and maintain proper bookkeeping processes and workflows
Working Dynamics
- Handle both project-based cleanup work and routine bookkeeping tasks
- Work directly with the business owner with minimal oversight required
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience with both Xero and QuickBooks accounting software
- Proven experience in restructuring and cleaning up messy bookkeeping systems
- Strong forensic bookkeeping skills with the ability to identify and correct historical errors
- Experience with accounts payable and receivable management
- Knowledge of inventory management within Xero
- Experience preparing data for BAS and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Excellent communication skills for direct client interaction
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
