Senior Accountant | U.S. Tax (1120S, 1065) & Sales Tax

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their team. This role requires strong expertise in U.S. tax preparation, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and strategic financial analysis skills, combined with excellent communication skills. The Senior Accountant will oversee daily accounting operations, ensure compliance with tax regulations, and provide guidance to junior staff.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal tax returns, including: 1120S (S Corporation), 1065 (Partnership), and 1040 with Schedule C and Schedule D.
  • Handle recapture depreciation and prepare Form 3115 (Tax Return Adjustment).
  • Balance and reconcile Balance Sheets and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Perform bookkeeping and manage accounts payable/receivable functions.
  • File WA State DOR retail sales tax reports accurately and on time.
  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accruals, general ledger entries, and journal entries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
  • Oversee payroll processes with ADP Payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Interact directly with clients and colleagues to discuss financial matters, answer inquiries, and provide professional support.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, assisting with training and development as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience, with solid expertise in U.S. tax preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal tax forms (1120S, 1065, 1040 with schedules, Form 3115).
  • Proven ability to balance and reconcile complex financial statements.
  • Experience with WA State DOR retail sales tax filing.
  • Proficiency in ADP Payroll and familiarity with other accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client-facing interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
