Job Overview
Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Cabinetry & Joinery Estimator to support high-end residential projects. In this role, you will be responsible for translating complex architectural visions into precise material takeoffs and comprehensive cost estimates. You will serve as a key financial and technical pillar of the business, ensuring that kitchens, laundries, wardrobes, and custom cabinetry are quoted accurately and competitively. This is a long-term, growth-oriented role designed for a professional who understands the "nuts and bolts" of joinery and is ready to take ownership of the estimating pipeline.

Monday – Friday, 09:00 AM – 06:00 PM Melbourne Time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Detailed Takeoffs: Perform accurate material takeoffs from architectural and shop drawings for full residential joinery packages.
- Cost Compilation: Source and compile pricing from established and new suppliers; incorporate these costs into comprehensive project estimates.
- Scope Breakdowns: Prepare detailed, room-by-room cost breakdowns (Kitchens, Laundries, Vanities, Wardrobes, etc.).
- Post-Project Analysis: Review both won and lost projects to analyze cost accuracy and identify opportunities to improve competitiveness.
- Strategic Collaboration: Communicate directly with the business owner to clarify project specifications and align on quoting assumptions.
- Financial Admin: Assist with the preparation of formal estimates in Xero as the role develops.
- Process Growth: Initially focus on material costing with a clear pathway toward full project estimation, including labor and overheads.
Requirements
- Joinery Expertise: Demonstrated experience in estimating for high-end residential cabinetry or similar joinery/millwork.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings and technical plans across various formats.
- Numerical Aptitude: Strong mathematical skills with a high level of attention to detail to ensure zero errors in costing.
- Standards Awareness: Familiarity with Australian (or similar international) construction and joinery standards.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Email; familiarity with Pytha or similar 3D cabinetry/shop drawing software is highly desirable.
- Self-Management: Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines.
