Overview
We are seeking a high-level Bookkeeper to take full ownership of a complex financial ecosystem, bringing order and clarity to over a decade of financial data with precision and accountability. This role goes beyond routine bookkeeping — it requires a proactive professional who can independently solve problems, leverage modern tools, and confidently navigate challenges without constant direction. You will serve as the trusted financial backbone for a dynamic real estate professional who values efficiency, speed, and radical transparency. As a long-term partner to the client, you will be expected to communicate consistently, maintain accurate and organized records, and fully “own” the books so the client can focus on growing the business.
Schedule:
- Part-time (10 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Strategic Cleanup: Reconcile years of backlogged records in QuickBooks Online, prioritizing recent years for tax and mortgage compliance.
- Advanced Accounting: Accurately manage complex tasks, including amortization schedules, loan breakdowns, and real estate-specific categorizations.
- Proactive Communication: Provide daily updates and—crucially—flag roadblocks immediately. If you are stuck for 30 minutes, you speak up; we value "asking why" over "suffering in silence."
- Workflow Optimization: Establish systems that balance historical catch-up with current maintenance.
- Tech Integration: Utilize QBO integrations for mileage tracking and expense categorization; leverage AI and modern tools to increase your own efficiency.
- Administrative Support: Maintain calendar and inbox organization to ensure business operations run as smoothly as the finances.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Bookkeeping experience (specifically supporting US-based Real Estate entities).
- QBO Mastery: You should be able to navigate QuickBooks Online in your sleep, including complex reconciliations and custom reporting.
- Resourcefulness: Proven ability to solve complex accounting problems independently. You should be comfortable using AI or external resources to find answers quickly rather than billing hours for lack of progress.
- High-Level English Proficiency: Exceptional verbal and written communication is required for daily strategic syncs.
- Accountability: A "red flag" for us is a lack of inquiry. You must be comfortable asking clarifying questions to ensure 100% accuracy the first time.
