Our client is a newly established engineering consultancy firm based in Perth, Western Australia, specializing in the mining resource sector. With a lean internal structure and experienced leadership, they're focused on delivering exceptional engineering services to clients. They're seeking a skilled SharePoint Developer to design, develop, and deploy a fully functional SharePoint intranet, along with critical business tools and automated workflows. This is a foundational role. You will not simply build pages—you will help shape how our team requests time off, approves expenses, tracks projects, onboards new staff, and manages compliance.
If you perform well in this initial 6‑month engagement, we will look to extend your role to develop more sophisticated business tools and workflows as our company scales.

Responsibilities
Intranet Development
- Build a basic, intuitive SharePoint intranet serving as the central hub for company policies, procedures, announcements, and resources.
- Establish a clear information architecture for easy navigation (e.g., policies, news, employee resources).
Workflow & Business Tool Development
- Design, build, and implement the following automated workflows:
- Leave approval / tracking / calendar – Submit, approve, and track employee leave with visibility across the team.
- Expenses approval / tracking – Simple expense submission, manager approval, and tracking for reimbursement.
- New project workflow – Integrate with accounts, TimePro (or similar time tracking), and manager approval for project initiation.
- New starter workflow – Coordinate IT access, TimePro setup, HR/payroll documentation, and onboarding tasks.
- Document control requests / tracking – Request, approve, and track engineering document revisions and access.
- PPE request workflow – Manage requests for personal protective equipment.
- Travel request workflow – Submit and approve travel requests for site visits (mining sector).
- Medical request workflow – Handle medical assessment or clearance requests (common in resource sector compliance).
Integration & Compatibility
- Ensure all tools and workflows function smoothly within a Microsoft Office environment.
- Provide clean, simple user interfaces suitable for a busy engineering team.
Requirements
- Formal qualification in SharePoint development (certification or degree in IT/Computer Science related field).
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SharePoint development (online or on-prem).
- Proven ability to demonstrate past work – you must be able to share examples or a portfolio of previous SharePoint intranets and workflows you have built from concept to deployment.
- Experience building approval workflows (leave, expenses, project, travel, etc.) is essential.
- Strong understanding of SharePoint lists, libraries, permissions, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms.
- Ability to work independently in a startup environment where requirements may evolve.
Preferred (Not Required, but a Plus)
- Experience working with TimePro or similar timesheet/project tracking software.
- Familiarity with the mining or engineering consultancy sector (understanding of PPE, medicals, site travel).
- Ability to recommend better tools or processes beyond initial request.
