Payroll Specialist

Overview

Join our team as a Payroll Specialist where you will manage end-to-end payroll operations for multiple clients with precision and care. This is a high-impact opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong accounting fundamentals to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely compensation in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Eastern Time (New York), 1 hour unpaid break (35 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full payroll cycle using systems such as Paychex, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Process payroll data including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits
  • Perform payroll-related general ledger reconciliations and account analysis
  • Prepare and review payroll journal entries, including debits, credits, and tax-related entries
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain and update employee records within HRIS platforms (e.g., PeopleSoft, Ceridian)
  • Conduct detailed reconciliation and identify discrepancies in payroll and financial data
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and reporting

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing or similar accounting role
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g., Workday, Kronos, ADP, Paychex)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (general ledger, double-entry bookkeeping)
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar tools)
  • High attention to detail with strong data entry accuracy (10-key proficiency preferred)
  • Familiarity with HR processes, including benefits administration and employee records
  • Ability to perform complex reconciliations and analyze financial data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on compliance and accuracy
