Accounts Payable & Bookkeeping Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations across multiple business entities. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial data entry, timely processing of accounts payable, and supporting compliance with Australian tax requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in clearing existing backlogs, maintaining financial integrity, and collaborating with internal stakeholders.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (AWST – Perth, WA); 40 hours/week

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Process accounts payable by accurately inputting invoices into the Sybiz accounting system
  • Clear and manage a backlog of 100+ unprocessed invoices in a timely manner
  • Perform daily data entry and bank reconciliations across three separate business entities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records to prevent vendor payment delays
  • Assist with payroll processing, including timesheet inputting, as a backup function
  • Support preparation and data input for BAS (Business Activity Statements) and other tax requirements
  • Coordinate closely with the part-time accountant to improve workflow efficiency and reporting accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial processes and Australian accounting standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and general accounting functions
  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate mid-tier accounting software (experience with Sybiz is advantageous)
  • Prior experience with accounting platforms such as Xero or MYOB
  • Familiarity with Australian tax terminology and compliance requirements, including BAS and GST
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial data entry and reconciliation
  • Experience working in a remote or outsourced team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple entities simultaneously
