Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Bookkeeper with strong, hands-on expertise in Australian GST, compliance, and payroll to support a portfolio of Australian clients.
This is a fully remote role suited for a detail-oriented and reliable professional who can manage end-to-end bookkeeping functions independently, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery across multiple clients.

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for multiple Australian clients
- Process and categorise source documents using Dext, Hubdoc, and MYOB In Tray
- Ensure accurate coding and allocation of all financial transactions
- Perform bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
- Maintain financial records up to trial balance
Accounts & Payables
- Reconcile supplier statements and manage accounts payable
- Assist with payment runs and prepare documentation for client approval
Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare BAS and PAYG reports (monthly and quarterly) for review and lodgement
- Ensure compliance with Australian taxation and reporting requirements
Payroll Management
- Process payroll for small to medium-sized Australian clients
- Prepare and manage superannuation payments
- Calculate and manage payroll tax obligations where applicable
Systems & Collaboration
- Extract and post financial data into MYOB and Xero
- Liaise with internal teams and external accountants as required
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready records across all clients
Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Minimum 3+ years bookkeeping experience with Australian clients
- Strong, practical knowledge of:
- GST, BAS, and PAYG (essential)
- Proven experience in Australian payroll processing, including:
- Superannuation
- Payroll tax
- Hands-on experience with:
- Dext, Hubdoc, and/or MYOB In Tray
- MYOB and Xero
- Strong reconciliation skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple clients independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience working in an Australian accounting or bookkeeping firm
- Exposure to multi-entity or multi-industry clients
- Relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualifications
