UI/UX Designer

We are looking for a UI/UX designer who can think, not just execute. This is a part-time role to start, with a clear pathway to a long-term position for the right person. We are open to mid-level or more senior designers. We would rather pay a bit more for the right capability than compromise on quality.

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, Flexible within client's business hours (4 hours per day, 20 hours per week)

Independent Contractor Perks

  • Permanent Work from Home

  • Immediate Hiring

  • Trial period with clear potential to move into a long-term role
The Role
You will work directly with senior leadership on projects across government, policy, and regulated environments. The work requires clarity of thinking, not just visual polish.
This includes:
  • UI/UX design for web and digital platforms
  • Bespoke illustration and visual systems (not template-based)
  • Translating complex ideas into simple, elegant visuals
  • Supporting web design thinking (structure, flow, usability)
  • Contributing to video and motion outputs (editing or assembling content)
  • Using AI tools to enhance output, not replace thinking
Tools & Capability
You should be comfortable across a modern design stack, including:
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Figma / Sketch
  • Canva (used appropriately, not relied on)
  • Procreate or similar illustration tools
  • AI tools (e.g. Midjourney, Runway, Higgsfield or equivalent)
Bonus if you can:
  • Edit or create video content (Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut, etc.)
  • Work across web design principles (UX flows, responsive layouts, dev awareness)
What We Are Looking For
  • Creative thinking: You can explain why a design works
  • Originality: You create, not assemble
  • Judgment: You know when to simplify
  • Clarity: You can take complex material and make it understandable
  • Adaptability: You are comfortable working across formats (web, visual systems, light motion)
  • Project Management: you plan your work and work your plan
What We Are Not Looking For
  • Designers who rely solely on templates like Canva but can add to them
  • Designers who generate large volumes of AI outputs without clear thinking or connection
  • Designers who need step-by-step direction for every task

Side Note

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.

Reminder

  • Please follow the provided link to BruntWork’s Career Site to finish your initial application requirements, including the assessment questions, technical check, and voice recording. Submissions with all requirements fulfilled will receive priority review.
