Job Overview

Our client is looking for a right-hand estimating expert to join a successful Australian construction company experiencing tremendous growth. This role puts you at the center of diverse, interesting projects where your estimating skills directly impact business success. You’ll work closely with the Director of Building Services, taking ownership of the entire estimating process—from takeoffs to client presentations—while helping streamline operations for a company that’s scaling rapidly.

Join a rapidly expanding Australian landscape and construction company generating $600k–$700k AUD monthly revenue. This established business specializes in landscape maintenance, construction projects, and building renovations, with a growing portfolio of detailed planning work, including tree planting and vegetation projects. The company values technical expertise and maintains strong client relationships through high-quality delivery.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM [Australian Time Zone], with a 30-minute paid lunch break (40 hours per week).

Responsibilities

  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from construction and landscaping plans using Bluebeam and other industry software.
  • Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and technical project documentation across multiple project types.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and clarify project details.
  • Proposal Preparation: Prepare comprehensive estimates and professional proposals ready for client presentation.
  • Photo Analysis: Support project scoping through photo analysis and measurement interpretation when detailed plans are not available.
  • Multi-Project Management: Manage multiple estimates simultaneously across landscape maintenance, construction, and building renovation sectors.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate directly with the Director and Projects Coordinator to ensure seamless project flow and operational alignment.
  • Revenue Support: Deliver precise estimates that support the company's high-volume monthly revenue operations.

Requirements

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated background in construction or landscape estimating with strong takeoff skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Bluebeam (or similar takeoff software) and proficiency in reading construction plans and specifications.
  • Analytical Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in quantity and cost calculations.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills for professional client-facing presentations and subcontractor negotiation.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Qualifications (Bonus): Quantity Surveying credentials or formal estimating qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Industry Context (Bonus): Specific experience with landscaping, vegetation work, or renovation projects.

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
