Job Overview

Our client is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join their team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the project lifecycle by providing accurate cost assessments and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure project feasibility and financial success.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM EST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather detailed information about a project.
  • Analyze blueprints, plans, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Prepare detailed reports or bids for management, client, or regulatory agencies.
  • Consult with industry experts to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
  • Use specialized software to create and optimize cost estimates.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, materials, and technologies in residential architecture and construction.
  • Attend virtual meetings with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss cost estimates and budgetary concerns.
  • Adjust estimates and budgets as needed based on actual project progression.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an estimator or in a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.

Highly Regarded Skills and Experience

  • Experience in residential architecture and construction estimating.
  • Familiarity with financial and project management software.
  • Prior experience in a similar remote role.
  • Strong understanding of the local market, suppliers, and pricing strategies.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
