Business Development Representative (FMCG)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a proactive and results-driven Business Development Representative to support outbound lead generation efforts for a wholesale grocery business. This role is primarily focused on prospect research, lead generation, and follow-up outreach, with a strong emphasis on identifying and nurturing potential wholesale clients for taro distribution. The ideal candidate is experienced in sales support and lead generation, confident in conducting phone-based outreach, and highly organized in maintaining a database of qualified leads.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM AEST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct prospect research to identify potential wholesale buyers, distributors, retailers, and relevant business opportunities.
  • Generate qualified leads through phone outreach and offline lead generation methods.
  • Perform follow-up calls to nurture interest and qualify potential prospects.
  • Build, update, and maintain a database of hot and warm leads.
  • Record lead activity, call outcomes, and next steps in an organized tracking system or CRM.
  • Identify decision-makers and gather relevant contact information.
  • Support the sales pipeline by ensuring leads are properly categorized and prioritized.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting on lead generation progress.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in lead generation, business development, telesales, or sales support.
  • Strong confidence in phone-based outreach and follow-up calls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research and data entry skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain organized lead databases.
  • Experience using CRM systems, spreadsheets, or lead tracking tools.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Experience in wholesale, grocery, FMCG, or food distribution is highly preferred.
  • Background in B2B sales support or wholesale lead generation.
  • Experience identifying business prospects through offline and direct outreach channels.
  • Strong ability to qualify and prioritize high-potential leads.

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
