About the Role:

We’re looking for a funny, pop-culture-savvy Comedy Sketch Writer to join the team behind Baby Shu, Red Hoodie Girl, and the Asian Mom series, a fast-growing vertical sketch universe on YouTube and social media. You’ll work directly with a multi-hyphenate creator (13M+ followers) to create viral, relatable, high-concept sketches and help scale to 100M followers.

If you understand what makes Gen Z and Millennials share content and love meme culture, K-dramas, trending formats, and female-POV humor, this is your dream job.

Schedule:

• Mondays to Fridays, flexible schedule within the client’s business hours, with a 1-hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

What You’ll Do:

• Pitch and write 5–6 one-minute-long original sketch scripts for recurring characters like Baby Shu, Red Hoodie Girl, Asian Mom, and TheOneShu in general
• Pitch trending comedic premises and sketch formats designed for viral reach (YouTube Shorts, long-form sketch, etc.)
• Collaborate on story beats, sketch arcs, and long-form episode ideas (~5–6 minutes each)
• Ideate viral comedy premises rooted in character, pop culture, Asian/Australian identity, female-forward humor, and social absurdity
• Build repeatable sketch formulas and series ideas that retain viewers and drive growth
• Analyze what’s performing online and use that intel to craft data-informed bangers
• Work with writers, editors, and the creator to develop high-impact beats, comedic structure, and character moments

You Are:

• A natural comedy writer with a portfolio of sketches, viral shorts, or comedic YouTube content
• Exceptionally fluent in online culture — TikTok trends, YouTube formats, creator collabs, meme cycles, Gen Z humor
• Skilled at writing across tones — from chaotic and absurd to heartfelt and ironic
• Passionate about character-driven comedy and building original IP through internet storytelling
• A structured thinker who can break ideas into acts, moments, and memes
• Someone who moves fast, iterates quickly, and is always looking for the next “OMG I need to share this” moment

Bonus Points If You:

• Have experience in screenwriting, sketch comedy, or character worldbuilding
• An Asian, or someone who deeply understands Asian diasporic comedy and culture
• Have taken content from 0 to viral before (or at least tried fearlessly)
• Are comfortable writing in someone else’s voice and tone
• Have an improv, stand-up, or digital storytelling background
