Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Strategic Estimating Partner to support a successful Florida contractor as they scale into high-value commercial markets. This role is central to the company’s business expansion, where your estimating expertise will directly translate into new revenue opportunities. You will handle diverse commercial projects—including hospitals, banks, and convention centers—working through the Building Connected platform. As the company grows, this role offers a clear trajectory to evolve from part-time support into a full-time leadership position within the estimating function.

Client Overview

A well-established Florida-based contractor currently transitioning from a referral-based model to a platform-driven growth strategy. They specialize in commercial subcontracting for demolition, painting, flooring, and final clean-up, and are looking for a dedicated partner to help them win bids for major institutional and commercial facilities.

Schedule

  • Monday - Thursday, 5 hours per day (25 hours per week). Shifts are during US Morning Time (Eastern Time).

Responsibilities

  • Plan Analysis: Review and analyze construction plans and project documentation for commercial bidding opportunities.
  • Detailed Takeoffs: Create precise digital takeoffs from architectural and construction drawings.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate estimates for demolition, painting, flooring, and final clean-up projects.
  • Bid Management: Develop and submit competitive bids through the Building Connected platform.
  • Scope Determination: Analyze project specifications to determine exact requirements for tasks, materials, and labor.
  • Strategic Support: Support the owner’s expansion into subcontracting markets by identifying high-probability win opportunities.
  • Graphic Review: Work with project graphics and supplementary images to ensure full scope comprehension.

Requirements

  • Commercial Expertise: Proven experience in construction estimating and takeoffs specifically for commercial/institutional projects.
  • Plan Reading: Expert ability to read and interpret complex construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial construction processes (specifically demolition, painting, or flooring).
  • Technical Proficiency: High proficiency with digital takeoff tools and estimating software.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in cost calculations and attention to the "fine print" of project specs.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Building Connected or similar commercial bidding platforms is a significant bonus.
  • Previous experience with institutional projects (hospitals, banks, convention centers) is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with a hands-on business owner.

Side Note

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable high-speed internet connection and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
