Our client is looking for a strategic Sales & Marketing Research Specialist to join an innovative health-tech startup. This isn't a traditional sales or research role; you will be the "boots on the ground" during a critical validation phase for a revolutionary UVC smart mat designed to sanitize shoe soles and protect homes from pathogens like MRSA. You will be responsible for conducting high-intensity, structured interviews and engaging with niche communities to determine product-market fit.

The company follows a methodical, data-driven approach to validation, moving through structured stages from initial discovery to executive-level outreach.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM EST (25 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Customer Discovery: Conduct structured interviews using "The Mom Test" methodologies to uncover unbiased customer pain points and behaviors.
  • Community Engagement: Proactively engage with target audiences on platforms like Reddit and social media, specifically targeting smart home early adopters and health-conscious millennials.
  • Validation Execution: Lead solution validation processes across key segments, including families with young children and the elderly.
  • Conversion Optimization: Assist with landing page testing and 10–15 minute comprehension studies to refine marketing hooks and messaging.
  • Data Documentation: Meticulously document qualitative behavioral patterns and quantitative feedback to identify the "Ideal Customer Profile."
  • Strategic Support: Facilitate the transition from general discovery to executive-level outreach involving healthcare professionals and interior designers.

Requirements

  • Proven Experience: Background in sales, marketing, or customer research with a focus on interviewing.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to conduct phone and video interviews, following scripts while maintaining a natural, empathetic conversation flow.
  • Platform Literacy: Comfortable navigating Reddit and other community-driven social platforms for research and engagement.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to synthesize raw conversation data into actionable product-market fit insights.
  • Technical Interest: A genuine interest in health technology, UVC sanitization, or smart home ecosystems.

Qualifications

  • Experience with startup validation methodologies or customer discovery frameworks (Highly Regarded).
  • Understanding of the "Health-Conscious" or "Millennial Parent" consumer segments (Preferred).
  • Experience with landing page optimization or A/B testing feedback loops (Preferred).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal micromanagement in a fast-paced environment.
