Job Description: You’ll play a critical role in a high-growth energy efficiency company, using your HVAC engineering expertise to calculate energy savings that directly impact businesses’ ability to upgrade their equipment at zero out-of-pocket cost. Your technical calculations will be reviewed by utility engineers, making accuracy and attention to detail essential. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability while working on diverse commercial projects with significant growth potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete energy savings calculations using PG&E’s HVAC tool and specialized spreadsheets
  • Research and input technical specifications for existing HVAC units from various manufacturers (Trane, York, Bryant, etc.)
  • Calculate energy savings projections when replacing old HVAC units with new, more efficient models
  • Ensure accuracy of calculations as they will be reviewed by utility engineers for approval
  • Work with nameplate data from HVAC units manufactured between 2000-2011
  • Complete individual assessments for projects involving 1-3 HVAC units per commercial location
  • Collaborate directly with business owner on project requirements and quality standards
  • Potentially expand role to include data input into utility website systems

Requirements:

  • HVAC engineering background with hands-on experience in commercial systems
  • Understanding of HVAC equipment specifications across different manufacturers
  • Experience with energy efficiency calculations and savings projections
  • Ability to research and interpret technical specifications from various online sources
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical calculations
  • Bonus if you have 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • It helps if you’re familiar with utility rebate programs or energy efficiency projects
