Job Overview
You’ll join a thriving Australian accounting practice where your expertise directly impacts business growth across a diverse client portfolio. This isn’t just bookkeeping – you’ll be part of a collaborative remote accounts department supporting everything from emerging businesses to established firms with complex financial needs. You’ll work alongside an experienced local senior bookkeeper and client services manager, with clear processes and support systems already in place to help you succeed from day one.
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week); Melbourne business hours (9 AM - 5 PM Melbourne time)

Responsibilities:
- Manage bookkeeping and financial processing for multiple clients ranging from sole operators to 25-staff businesses
- Support 17 CFO-level clients as part of their dedicated remote accounts department
- Process transactions, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance using Xero accounting software
- Handle receipt processing and document management through Dext software daily
- Prepare and process BAS (Business Activity Statements) and other Australian compliance requirements
- Manage payroll processing for clients with varying complexity levels
- Collaborate seamlessly with Melbourne-based senior bookkeeper and client services team
- Deliver timely financial support during standard Australian business hours
- Utilize established training materials and processes to maintain quality standards
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of senior-level bookkeeping experience
- Proven experience working with Australian market clients and deep understanding of Australian accounting practices
- Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software (non-negotiable)
- Hands-on experience with Dext receipt and document management software
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll compliance and BAS preparation requirements
- Ability to work Melbourne business hours (9 AM - 5 PM Melbourne time) consistently
- Excellent communication skills for real-time collaboration with Australian-based team
- Bonus if you have experience with virtual CFO services or multi-client environments
