Social Media Marketing Associate

About the Role:

We're seeking a proactive and creative Social Media Marketing Associate to manage our social media presence and email marketing campaigns. This is a part-time, remote position perfect for a self-starter who thrives on creating engaging content, building community, and driving measurable growth across digital channels.

Schedule:

  • Mondays to Fridays, flexible hours within the client’s business hours (20 hours per week)
  • Potential to transition to full-time

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management (60% of role)
    • Strategy Development: Create and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with business goals
    • Content Creation & Editing: Write, edit, and schedule compelling posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
    • Community Engagement: Monitor, respond to, and engage with followers and comments in a timely manner
    • Growth & Analytics: Implement growth strategies to increase followers, engagement, and conversions; track and report on key metrics
    • Content Calendar Management: Plan and maintain a monthly content calendar with a consistent posting schedule
    • Trend Monitoring: Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices
  • Email Marketing (40% of role)
    • Campaign Execution: Design, write, and send weekly email campaigns to our subscriber list
    • Platform Management: Manage email campaigns in Square (current platform) or recommend and implement superior alternatives
    • List Management: Segment audiences, maintain clean contact lists, and grow subscriber base
    • Performance Analysis: Track open rates, click-through rates, conversions, and provide insights for optimization
    • A/B Testing: Test subject lines, content, and send times to improve email performance
    • Automation: Set up automated email sequences (welcome series, abandoned cart, follow-ups, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience & Skills
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience managing social media accounts for businesses (portfolio or case studies required)
    • 1+ years of email marketing experience, preferably with Square or similar platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ConvertKit, etc.)
    • Proven track record of growing social media accounts and increasing engagement
    • Strong copywriting and editing skills with excellent grammar and attention to detail
    • Experience with social media scheduling tools (Later, Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, etc.)
    • Proficiency in basic graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)
    • Understanding of social media analytics and email marketing metrics

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

  • Experience in retail/e-commerce
  • Knowledge of paid social media advertising (Meta Ads, Instagram Ads)
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (Shopify & Square)
  • Experience with user-generated content (UGC) campaigns
  • Understanding of SEO and content marketing principles

Tools & Platforms You’ll Use:

  • Social Media:
      • Instagram, Facebook, TikTok (YouTube is not required but definitely a plus)
      • Scheduling tools (we're open to your recommendations)
      • Analytics platforms
  • Email Marketing:
      • Square (current platform)
      • Open to migrating to alternative platforms if you identify better options
  • Communication & Project Management:
    • Slack, Asana, Google Workspace

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
