Our Clients is a growing construction and development company specializing in high-quality residential and commercial projects. As the company continues to expand its project pipeline and client base, we are seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead operational execution, strengthen internal systems, and support strategic growth.

Working closely with the CEO, the COO will play a critical role in building scalable operational structures, maintaining financial discipline across projects, and ensuring efficient delivery of construction operations.

Position Overview

The Chief Operating Officer will oversee the day-to-day operational performance of the company, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and on schedule. This role will manage project coordination, operational workflows, budgeting oversight, and team performance across the organization.

The COO will enable the CEO to focus on business development, partnerships, and client relationships, while ensuring the company’s internal operations remain structured, efficient, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Oversee daily construction operations and project coordination

• Supervise project managers, operations staff, and administrative teams

• Ensure projects are executed according to scope, schedule, and budget

• Monitor subcontractor performance, compliance, and operational standards

• Maintain clear operational communication between teams and leadership

Financial Oversight & Budget Control

• Monitor project budgets and track costs versus forecasts

• Identify cost overruns, inefficiencies, and operational risks

• Oversee invoicing processes, receivables tracking, and delinquent accounts

• Maintain consistent financial reporting across all projects

• Supervise financial and operational transactions within Buildertrend, ensuring accurate recording of project costs, invoices, change orders, and payments

Systems & Process Development

• Design and implement scalable operational systems and reporting frameworks

• Standardize project budgeting, scheduling, and documentation practices

• Improve operational workflows and cross-department collaboration

• Implement and manage digital tools for project tracking, including Buildertrend platform administration

Business Planning & Operational Strategy

• Support the development and execution of company business plans

• Assist in forecasting operational capacity and growth planning

• Evaluate operational risks and identify process improvements

• Support strategic initiatives that strengthen operational scalability

Client Issue & Complaint Management

• Establish clear processes for handling client concerns and operational issues

• Investigate project-related complaints and coordinate resolution

• Ensure timely communication with clients and internal stakeholders

• Track recurring issues and implement preventive operational improvements

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and support project managers and operational teams

• Establish performance metrics and accountability standards

• Conduct weekly operations and project performance reviews

• Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of operational staff

Required Qualifications

• Significant experience in construction operations, project management, or construction leadership

• Proven experience managing operational teams and multiple projects

• Strong understanding of construction budgets, scheduling, and subcontractor management

• Experience overseeing multi-project construction environments

• Experience using construction management software (Buildertrend or similar platforms)

• Strong analytical, organizational, and operational leadership skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with remote or distributed teams

• Experience implementing operational systems within growing companies

• Experience managing financial workflows within construction management platforms

Side Note: Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.
