Job Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Mid-Level IT Engineer to take ownership of infrastructure operations, systems administration, and technical project delivery. You will work independently on complex tasks, mentor junior team members, and collaborate cross-functionally to keep the technology environment running efficiently and securely. Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure including servers, networks, and storage systems.
  • Systems Administration: Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD, or Google Workspace environments, including user provisioning and policy management.
  • Incident Response: Lead incident response and root cause analysis for IT issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Business Continuity: Design, implement, and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
  • Technical Deployment: Evaluate and deploy new hardware, software, and tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Gather technical requirements to translate into IT solutions and provide guidance to junior IT staff on technical best practices.
  • Security & Compliance: Monitor network security, manage firewalls, and ensure compliance with IT policies and standards.
  • Project Delivery: Participate in IT project planning, execution, and post-implementation reviews while maintaining technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in IT engineering, systems administration, or a similar role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Windows Server and/or Linux system administration.
  • Networking: Solid understanding of networking protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent.
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues independently.

Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft MCSA, or AWS Solutions Architect Associate are a plus.
  • Experience with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Exposure to DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, or containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement.
