Spanish Bilingual Medical Secretary

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to serve as the vital communication bridge between patients and healthcare providers in a dynamic podiatry practice. You’ll be at the heart of patient care operations, using your bilingual skills to ensure Spanish-speaking patients receive seamless, compassionate service. What makes this role unique is the innovative use of technology - you’ll provide real-time translation support during patient consultations via video calls, essentially “walking” with the doctor from room to room virtually. This position combines traditional medical administrative duties with cutting-edge telemedicine support, making you an integral part of the patient care experience while working remotely with modern technology platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, answering incoming calls and providing exceptional customer service in both English and Spanish
  • Manage the appointment scheduling system, coordinating patient visits and optimizing the practice’s daily schedule
  • Proactively send appointment reminders to patients, helping reduce no-shows and improve practice efficiency
  • Handle multi-channel communications including phone calls, text messages, emails, and fax correspondence
  • Navigate and maintain accurate patient records in the Practice Fusion EMR system
  • Provide innovative live translation services during patient consultations via Zoom video calls
  • Facilitate real-time communication between the doctor and Spanish-speaking patients during medical examinations
  • Schedule follow-up appointments immediately following patient visits based on treatment recommendations
  • Support the practice’s growth by maintaining organized patient communication workflows

Requirements

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in medical administration, medical reception, or healthcare customer service roles
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, with Practice Fusion experience preferred
  • Comfort with modern technology including soft phone systems, video conferencing platforms, and multi-channel communication tools
  • Ability to work Eastern Time zone business hours consistently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced medical environment
  • Professional demeanor and empathetic communication style when interacting with patients
  • Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace suitable for video calls and patient interactions
  • Enthusiasm for being part of an innovative healthcare team that’s expanding and embracing new technologies
