Job Overview
Our client is looking for a senior member for their estimating function who will work across fast-paced insurance estimating—where precision and efficiency are critical—while also gaining opportunities to lead estimating initiatives for luxury builders’ high-end residential projects. This role offers the best of both worlds: dynamic day-to-day work and long-term progression into senior leadership within a growing private construction division. You will also assist in mentoring and supporting junior estimators, sharing knowledge, improving team capability, and helping ensure company-wide estimating standards are upheld.
Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM AEDT, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed cost estimates, quotes, and Scopes of Work for residential building projects.
- Interpreting plans, engineering documents, photos, and site data to produce accurate costings.
- Reviewing trades, materials, labor rates, inclusions/exclusions, and contingencies.
- Working closely with Pre-Construction, Project Management, and Senior Management to refine scopes and ensure budget accuracy.
- Supporting and mentoring junior estimators—reviewing their work, upskilling them in processes, and helping maintain consistent quality across the team.
- Providing guidance on company estimating procedures and best practices based on experience.
- Contributing to tender submissions for residential, insurance, and small commercial projects.
- Participating in major loss quoting (training provided).
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years residential estimating experience.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing detailed costings and scopes for residential building projects.
- Ability to read and interpret residential building plans and engineering drawings.
- Commercial estimating experience is beneficial, but residential experience is essential.
Qualifications
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and understanding of construction cost structures.
- Knowledge of Australian building codes, construction methods, and industry pricing.
- Experience with estimating or project management systems.
- Excellent communication with internal teams, supervisors, and management.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of growth and improvement.
- Organized, reliable, and capable of meeting deadlines.
