Bookkeeper (EMS Industry)

Project Overview

Our company is seeking a highly capable, independent Bookkeeper for a 90 to 120-day project. The primary objective is to build new financial books from scratch and bring them completely up to date for an automotive repair shop that our company acquired last year.

Please note: You will be starting from a blank slate, as current financial processes are not currently in place. Upon hire, you will be introduced to the team and attend an initial training session to review the company and set clear expectations. After this onboarding, you will be expected to take full ownership of the project.

Project Duration: 90 - 120 days (with potential to transition to ongoing PT/FT) 

Future Outlook

Near the completion of the 90-120 day project window, the company will assess the business needs and your performance to determine if there is an opportunity for you to stay on to maintain the books in either a part-time or full-time capacity.

Schedule: 40 hours / week with one 60 min unpaid break per day

  • Mon - Wed: 8am - 5pm
  • Thu - Fri: Flexible start time between 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM PDT to 3:00 PM PDT - 6:00 PM PDT

Project Responsibilities

  • Start new books as of the business acquisition date.
  • Create the Chart of Accounts.
  • Create Customers in the system.
  • Create Vendors in the system.
  • Bring all books to current.
  • Collect all Form W-9s via email for active vendors.
  • Suggest processes for future implementation.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, specifically with preparing and starting new books from scratch.
  • Technical Expertise: Must be highly confident and experienced in building a Chart of Accounts.
  • Project Ownership: Ability to take full control of a project, work independently, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision after the initial training phase.
  • Process Creation: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate an environment where no current processes exist, alongside the foresight to suggest practical solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent written and professional communication skills, specifically for conducting outreach to active vendors to collect documentation (W-9s).

Side Note

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.
