Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Estimator to prepare precise, trade-level costings across a broad range of renovation projects.
The role is responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates and tender
submissions for residential projects. This position plays a vital role in winning new projects and supporting their successful delivery within approved budgets, while upholding the company’s quality and performance standards.
Schedule: 40hrs per week, 9am to 6pm Sydney

Key Responsibilities
Project Costing & Estimate Production
- Prepare detailed, trade-by-trade estimates using company templates and expertise.
- Interpret all project documentation: plans, specifications, includes & selections, site notes, photos, engineering, and consultant documentation.
- Build accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and Scope of Works.
- Apply current labour, material, and subcontractor rates.
- Locate and find pricing specific to our operating regions.
- Ensure all estimates align with SilverPeak's margin targets.
Scope & Documentation Review
- Review site and measure information, identifying and resolving missing details.
- Flag risks, exclusions, and cost variables in the project scope.
- Clarify scope with the sales and project delivery team.
- Standardise estimate structures for clear handover to construction.
Tender Preparation
- Prepare and coordinate tender submissions within the required timeframes
- Review tender documentation and clarify discrepancies
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Prepare tender comparison schedules and recommendations
Supplier & Subcontractor Pricing
- Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to trades and suppliers.
- Review and compare subcontractor quotes ("apples to apples").
- Maintain an up to date subcontractor and supplier database:
- Trade rates & pricing
- Material costs
- PC item allowances
Systems & Data Management
- Enter and maintain estimated data in BuilderTrend and our job costing/estimating platforms (e.g., Google Workspace).
- Use previous project data to continuously improve estimating accuracy.
- Refine estimating templates and cost libraries.
Handover to Construction Team
- Produce a clear job budget aligned with the estimate.
- Provide detailed trade cost breakdowns.
- Identify cost-sensitive items and construction risks.
- Assist the Project Manager (PM) with budget understanding, where required.
Risk and Compliance
- Identify potential project risks and allowances
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian building codes and regulations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit purposes
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Essential
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the construction industry (residential and commercial)
- Strong knowledge of Australian building practices and regulations
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in estimating and Google Workspace
- Strong understanding of trade sequencing and real construction cost.
- Experience pricing bathrooms, kitchens, or internal renovations is highly regarded.
