The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls to support a growing organization. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and scalable financial processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to improving systems and workflows.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure timely, accurate reporting to executive leadership

Accounting Oversight

• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses
• Supervise, mentor, and support accounting staff, including Staff Accountants
• Maintain consistency, accuracy, and best practices across accounting functions

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Ensure compliance with tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and advisors as needed

Budgeting & Analysis

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities
• Provide financial insights, reporting, and strategic recommendations
• Deliver accurate financial data to support leadership decision-making

Systems & Process Improvement

• Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, workflows, and procedures
• Drive efficiency and scalability as the company and accounting team expand

 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity preferred
• Proven experience managing or reviewing accounting staff work
• Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
