Job Description: You’ll take ownership of the financial record-keeping for a dynamic business that serves multiple customer needs across different service lines. This role offers the perfect opportunity to work directly with a knowledgeable business owner who understands accounting but needs your expertise to maintain accurate, up-to-date books using Xero. You’ll play a crucial role in bringing order to the financial operations while supporting a business that provides valuable services to the local community.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bookkeeping tasks using Xero accounting software with precision and efficiency
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts including checking, savings, and specialized live scan business account
- Manage credit card reconciliations for two business credit cards with attention to detail
- Complete catch-up bookkeeping work to bring all accounts current and establish ongoing maintenance schedule
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple business service lines (shipping, mailbox rental, notary, live scan)
- Coordinate directly with business owner via video calls and regular communication for seamless collaboration
- Ensure proper categorization and tracking of transactions across diverse revenue streams
- Support month-end closing processes and provide clear, organized financial reporting
Requirements:
- Proven expertise with Xero accounting software (this is essential for success in this role)
- Strong understanding of US accounting practices, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Entry-level to mid-level bookkeeping experience with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage catch-up work while maintaining ongoing tasks
- Reliable internet connection for remote work and video communications
- Bonus if you have experience with multi-service businesses or diverse revenue streams
- It helps if you’re familiar with Oracle or NetSuite systems (owner has background with these platforms)
