Shopify Specialist

Schedule:

  • Flexible within AEST, Monday–Friday

About Our Client:

They operate a large-scale online sporting goods retailer Australia-wide. They sell firearms, ammunition components, optics (scopes, thermals), accessories, and other shooting gear online, with a focus on accurate inventory visibility, fast fulfillment, and reliable stock levels across thousands of SKUs. Their customer base includes recreational and competitive shooters who depend on clear stock info and reliable fulfillment timelines.

Role Overview:

You’re a Shopify expert with deep experience in inventory, catalog management, backend workflows, and systems integrations. You know Shopify admin and the backend tools inside-out. You solve real inventory challenges—syncing stock levels, fixing data issues, optimizing backend processes, and making sure the store runs efficiently at scale. You work across products with complex variants, fluctuating stock, multi-source supply, and recently updated backend requirements.

This role sits at the intersection of ops, tech, and e-commerce strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Shopify backend operations with ownership—it runs well and stays clean every day
  • Manage inventory, stock levels, variants, supplier SKUs, backorders, pre-orders, and visibility logic
  • Audit and optimise inventory sync between suppliers, the warehouse, and Shopify
  • Maintain accurate stock records and reporting in Shopify
  • Troubleshoot SKU mismatches, inaccurate counts, out-of-stock issues, and fulfilment errors
  • Configure Shopify settings: products, collections, metafields, automated collections
  • Set up and maintain workflows (tags, alerts, threshold re-orders, automated restock notifications)
  • Work closely with operations and fulfilment teams to understand real stock and reflect it online
  • Integrate 3rd party inventory/ERP/WMS apps effectively
  • Create and maintain SOPs for inventory processes and backend setups
  • Provide backend support for site launches, promotions, category changes, and product rollouts
  • Communicate clearly about backend limitations, resolutions, and risks

Experience Required:

  • Proven Shopify expertise—especially with backend inventory and catalog complexities
  • Strong Shopify admin and product data management skills
  • Experience with inventory syncing tools and third-party backend apps
  • Comfortable with data: CSV import/export, tags, metafields, bulk updates
  • Problem solver with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication; can explain backend logic to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to document processes and hand off clear SOPs
  • Prior e-commerce experience with large SKU counts

Independent Contractor Perks:

  • Health Insurance Coverage for eligible locations
  • Permanent work-from-home
  • Immediate hiring
