The client is a long-established, Gold Master Electricians accredited electrical contracting business specialising exclusively in new residential construction.
They partner with major builders across Queensland, delivering high-volume electrical installations including:

As they scale and volume continue to grow, they are creating a specialist analytical role focused on estimating accuracy, job costing discipline, and profitability visibility across hundreds of residential builds.
Purpose of the Role
The Electrical Estimator / Job Costing Analyst will be responsible for turning builder purchase orders and operational data into clear, actionable profitability insights.
This role exists to:

Accurately break down jobs into labour and material components

Set realistic labour targets for field teams

Track actual performance versus estimates
-
Identify where margin is created or lost at each build stage

Provide reliable reporting to support pricing, productivity, and growth decisions
This is a business-critical role that directly impacts margin control, scalability, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Estimating & Purchase Order Breakdown

Break down builder purchase orders into job stages:

Allocate for each stage:

Labour hours

Labour cost

Identify:

True margin per house

Profitable vs loss-making stages

2. Job Cost Tracking & Analysis

Analyse job data using:

MYOB – job-coded purchases and invoices
-
ServiceM8 – labour time, travel time, job history

Compare:

Estimated vs actual labour hours

Estimated vs actual material spend
-

Track:
-
Productivity by job, stage, and crew
-
Travel time impact
-
Rework and warranty cost impact
-
3. Labour Target Setting
-
Build and maintain:

Labour hour targets per job type
-
Labour hour targets per job stage

Provide:

Clear target hours to management and supervisors

Ongoing performance feedback based on actual data

4. Profit & Loss Reporting

Produce:

Daily and weekly job profitability snapshots

Monthly margin reports by builder and job type

Required Skills & Experience
Essential

Strong experience in at least one of:
