Healthcare Billing Representative

Overview

The Billing Representative is responsible for supporting accurate and timely healthcare billing processes, including claims management, patient account resolution, and professional communication with patients, insurance providers, and internal clinic staff. This role requires 1–2 years of healthcare billing experience, with a strong preference for candidates familiar with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EMR systems.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Bloomington, MN time)

Responsibilities

  • Address billing claim issues, concerns, and discrepancies in a timely manner

  • File insurance appeals through appropriate payer channels

  • Submit patient medical records to insurance companies upon request

  • Conduct balance and credit investigations to ensure patient account accuracy

  • Process and post refunds and transaction-related adjustments

  • Contact insurance providers regarding denied, incorrectly processed, or disputed claims

  • Communicate with patients regarding account balances and monitor payment plan progress

  • Respond clearly and professionally to billing-related inquiries from patients and clinic staff

  • Forward benefit re-verification requests when coverage discrepancies are identified

  • Review outstanding balances or credits prior to patient appointments

  • Verify prior-day collections, credits, and posted payments for accuracy

  • Generate billing and financial reports as required


Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of healthcare billing experience

  • Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks (eCW) preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple billing tasks efficiently

Since this is a permanent work-from-home position and the arrangement is that of an “Independent Contractor,” the selected candidates must have their own computer and internet connection. They will handle their own benefits and taxes. The professional fees are on hourly rates and the rate depends on your performance in the application process.
